Hello! Well, here’s something. The sequel to Operating System Sounds is out, but on music streaming services. Like two months early. I made an error when submitting drafts (for the proposed date of March 1) and – well – it’s out. And it’ll stay up. I don’t feel like resubmitting everything and starting over from scratch so – horray!
So, that means it’s up on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, etc. Just look under “Guyokai”.
Hello! I hate to announce it so soon (considering my last album just came out over the fall) but Operating System Sounds, Pt. II is coming this spring with a tentative date of March of this year. Over the summer of 2021 when I was in the early stages of creating Operating System Sounds, I was wondering what type of sound I was going to go for with my third album. The inspiration draws heavily on old music soundtracks I listened to on Windows 95-era video games when I was younger. You might not hear it but it’s what I got the creativity from.
OSS at this point was always a duo-album. I had enough material to make at least two albums. It was just a matter of what was going to be on the first album. Thus, OSS, Pt. II is here. It contains music that did not make the first album along with new tracks as well.
I am more than likely going to make it just a whole album trilogy but that will take some time as I have no more music left over from the first albums drafts.
In celebration of 20 years composing and producing music, I have created my first mixtape titled “OMAKE”. This release will not be available to purchase. Instead, it is free to stream on the music streaming platform Audius. This release is also not an official part of my catalog. This is just a fun mixtape I put together with tracks that I felt do not fit on any of my albums.
Today I’ve decided to release my new album, Operating System Sounds, early. It was originally scheduled for a January 2022 release. However I cant hold off any longer. I love it so much and what i’ve crafted. It is available right now on both SoundCloud and BandCamp with music streaming services to follow.
I have been working hard on it since the summer. It is complete package. It is extremely different from my previous albums (as to be expected since this is ‘Era 3’). The album incorporates jazzy, post-rock, experimental ambience with minimal hip hop and trap beats.
I am extremely excited to announce that it’s been almost 20 years since I started making music! At the dawn of 2022, I will be celebrating my 20 year anniversary. While technically April would be the 20 year mark, I’ve decided to celebrate early! From my humble beginnings using the moniker “Furik” to the most recent “Guyokai”, it’s been a long time! I started Furik in April of 2002 after going solo from being in a rock band as vocalist/pianist. Going from rock music to electronica was a very different change and feel to me. However as time went on, and other projects were developed (such as Iromega Scandal, digitalmonster) it became very natural to me.
Now despite experimenting with electronica, I also had solo rock music as well. “Razor Frank” was an emo project (the genre was extremely huge in the early 2000s) featuring me vocalizing with a piano. “Cadogan” was pretty popular too. More of a shoegazer rock/emo sound with me experimenting with acoustic and electric guitars over dreamy ambient instrumentals and trip-hop beats.
And not to mention “Chandaka”, a one-album project that incorporated guttural death-metal like vocals over extreme metal guitar playing with a dark and progressive metal aesthetic. That album turned 10 years this year, I believe? Hmm.
Anyway, yes i’ve had many, many projects and I wish I could share them all with you although some (if not, most) have been lost over time. Maybe they’re all hidden on a USB thumbdrive or burnt CD-R somewhere in storage. I would like to share them someday, but only if I found them. A lot of my musical projects have last.fm profiles though!
Like it’s been stated, I have been doing so for well over 20 years. What started as a hobby continued with the notion that I would be getting famous from it. At least that was my dream in my youth. That dream soon became nothing more as more people began getting into electronica music and effortlessly became famous. Despite the dream ending, I continued to make music – just for the hell of it. I realized it was only a hobby, still a hobby, and dealt with it.
I still enjoy making music. Now that I am much older, more mature, and that dream is no longer a thing, I only create music because I love it. I want to share it with you.
With the way the world is now, how we’ve come to terms with the pandemic, how we (as a society) have become so apathetic towards each other – my only freedom from the word IS to make music. Everyday in the news is something negative, sad, and depressing. There is no good news anymore. I don’t remember the last time something good was even on the news. So, to try and sway away from negativity, I tried to create more positive and upbeat music (like 1996, 1996 XP, CyberConnect). If I can make a difference to just ONE person with my music, that would mean the world to me.
Thank you everyone for all the support over the years. I really appreciate it. Please keep an eye on my website as we continue on!
Hello! I hope you are all doing well. Well, since my last update, both CyberConnect and F E V E Rwere released. Two, companion albums for TROLL/EYE and 1996/1996 XP. With all that being said, this marks the end of an era. TROLL/EYE/FEVER are now grouped together in what i’m now calling Album 1.0. 1996/1996 XP/CyberConnect are grouped under Album 2.0. So, to break it down here’s what it looks like. –
Album 1.0 – TROLL Album 1.1 – EYE Album 1.2 – FEVER
Album 2.0 – 1996 Album 2.1 – 1996 XP Album 2.2 – CyberConnect
So, this means technically I only have two full-length studio albums. The 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2 are just extended, enhanced, and re-packaged editions of the 1.0 and 2.0 albums. Which is true.
Now, what’s that mean for the future? Well, my next release will most definitely be Album 3.0. Whenever that will release is ultimately up in the air. Nothings set in stone, I really haven’t been working on it. I’ve wrote new songs but I have no clue what the concept, etc. will be. So, considering the two-year time-lapse it took to create “1996” from “TROLL” it will take time. The past few years have been pretty tough when it comes to “writers block” – which also explains why the .1, .2 albums even exist. I’ll let you know, obviously, with any new news!
Until then, please enjoy the albums i’ve released! You can find them anywhere on streaming services. Also, i’d like to do something (or release something, at least – just something small, nothing major) in June since June 1 is my birthday but who knows?
TWO NEW RELEASES?! F E V E R, the next companion album to my first two albums, TROLL and EYE, has now been released on all music-streaming services! Features new re-recordings of TRAP and PART along with re-mastered versions of past old songs from TROLL and EYE!
Also, a companion album for 1996/1996 XP will be released next week as well! Titled ‘CyberConnect’. This should hold you over until new music is released.
Oh, by the way. F E V E R is coming. The next album in the T R O L L / E Y E series. The album mixes sound similar to my old 2018 sound and is a complete departure from the 1996 series. Look forward to it soon! I’ll keep you posted!
The companion album to ‘1996’ is out now! Please welcome 1996 XP to my music catalog! A whole new album that compliments 1996 perfectly along with a select few tracks form 1996 but remixed and instrumental. Enjoy on Spotify, BandCamp, Apple Music, etc.
